Emotional Regulation
One of the eight Assembly Dimensions. It covers how your child handles big feelings, copes with things going wrong, and shows what they are feeling.
Applies across the UK
This dimension asks about how strongly emotions land, how long they last, how your child responds when something is hard or unfair, and how they show feelings in different places. It is a single group of questions rather than several.
For a child under 8 the bar for the top label is set higher here than it is for older children, on the reasoning that strong feelings are more typical at four or five than at twelve.
Strong feelings are not a fault. What this dimension is trying to show is where your child might need help to recover, and what kind of help that could be.
