The tribunal hears appeals about additional learning needs Additional learning needs The term used in Wales when a child needs extra support to learn. It replaced the term special educational needs for children and young people in Wales. It also hears claims that a school has discriminated against a disabled child. Appealing is free and you do not need a lawyer. This is not the same body as England's SEND Tribunal: if your child is at school in Wales, this is the tribunal that covers you, and appeals must be sent here, not to the English tribunal.

  • SEND Tribunal : England has its own SEND Tribunal. An appeal about a Welsh school or council goes to the Education Tribunal for Wales, not the English one.
